RunClubbing Participation Disclaimer, Risk Acknowledgement & Insurance Statement (UK)

Participation in RunClubbing activities — including group runs, training sessions, social runs, events, and meet-ups — involves inherent physical risks. These may include, but are not limited to, muscle strains, joint injuries, cardiovascular issues, dehydration, slips or falls, collisions, traffic-related incidents, and other injury or health risks associated with running in public and outdoor environments.

By choosing to take part, you acknowledge that you, and all group members are voluntarily participating in physical activity and are responsible for assessing your own ability to participate safely. You should not take part if you have any medical condition, injury, or illness that could make participation unsafe. If you are unsure, you are encouraged to seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional before participating.

Any guidance, pacing suggestions, routes, or information provided by RunClubbing organisers, run leaders, volunteers, or via this website are offered for general guidance only and do not constitute medical, health, or professional advice.

Participants are responsible for running at a pace appropriate to themselves and for taking reasonable steps to look after their own safety, including appropriate warm-up, hydration, footwear, visibility, and awareness of weather conditions, road surfaces, traffic, and other road or path users. If you feel unwell, injured, or unsafe at any time, you should stop immediately and seek appropriate assistance.

Participation is entirely voluntary, and participants remain free to withdraw from any activity at any time if they feel conditions are unsafe or unsuitable.

Weather & Event Changes

RunClubbing activities take place outdoors and may be affected by weather and environmental conditions. Activities may be modified, delayed, relocated, or cancelled at short notice where conditions are considered unsafe or unsuitable, including (but not limited to) extreme heat or cold, ice, snow, storms, high winds, poor visibility, flooding, or other hazards.

Any decision to cancel or amend an activity will be made by RunClubbing organisers or run leaders acting reasonably and in the interests of participant safety. However, participants remain responsible for assessing conditions for themselves and deciding whether it is safe for them to take part.

Roads, Paths & Highway Code

Many RunClubbing activities take place on public roads, pavements, footpaths, cycle paths, and shared-use spaces. Participants must comply with the UK Highway Code at all times and show consideration for other road and path users, including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and local residents.

Running on public highways and shared spaces carries additional risks. Participants are responsible for their own visibility, positioning, and behaviour, including the use of suitable clothing or lights where appropriate, and for following instructions given by run leaders where these are intended to support safety.

Insurance & Liability

RunClubbing holds public liability insurance (and, where applicable, runner-related insurance) for its organised activities. This insurance provides a level of protection in certain circumstances but is subject to policy terms, conditions, limitations, and exclusions, and does not replace personal medical, accident, or travel insurance.

Nothing in this statement is intended to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to this, RunClubbing and its organisers, leaders, and volunteers do not accept responsibility for loss, injury, or damage arising from risks that are inherent in running and participation in group activities.

By participating in RunClubbing activities, you confirm that you have read and understood this statement and acknowledge the risks involved.
